Paul (the author of these videos and Bible studies) and Ginny Champoux have been married since 1956, and love their 4 children, the spouses, 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Education and Study
Paul’s education includes: B.B.A. from The University of Michigan; Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary; Master of Social Science (interdisciplinary) from State University of New York at Buffalo (including philosophy, sociology, anthropology and psychology); and Master of Arts in Education (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) from The University of Michigan.
Beyond this formal education, Paul pursued readings, lectures and discussion groups in the sciences, philosophy of science, and the historical, scientific and rational evidences for Christian beliefs and the reliability of the Bible. Thus he is a generalist, rather than a specialist, bringing together and relating an interdisciplinary, broader range of thought from many academic disciplines.
In recent decades information has multiplied exponentially. No one can know more than a fraction of what has been published in each field of biology, chemistry, astrophysics, history, philosophy or other fields. So the range of research and expertise represented by a Ph.D. in these academic fields has become highly specialized, very narrow. One frequent result of this is that some scientists who are experts in their specializations, will step outside of their fields of empirical physical science and make pronouncements in a different field—that of the philosophy of science. They move beyond the data of the physical science and make metaphysical, non-empirical speculations based on philosophical or religious assumptions. But their authority as scientists carries over, in the minds of many, into their assumptions and speculations which are not based on their science.
So in his writings as a generalist, Paul quotes from experts in specialized fields of science and philosophy, and fits them into a larger framework that gives a big picture of all reality in a way that unites our experiences, understanding and needs, and satisfies the whole person.
Professional Experience and Work
Paul and his wife, Ginny, have been serving international students, scholars, professionals and their families since 19 67 on staff with International Students, Inc. They have provided practical services to aid internationals coming into a new culture in the USA. And they have interacted with the questions that people from countries around the world have about the meaning and purpose of life, the relation between science and spiritual truths, and the nature of God and his love and plan for us. Paul offers a long lifetime of study, experience and thinking about a specifically Christian worldview. That is, what does God teach us about the world and life?
